Standing on the shoulders of giants

I’ve been reading WFRP stuff on the web for years, and there’s plenty of stuff out there that puts my modest efforts here to shame. Here are my favourites.

Reviews and analysis

  • Awesome Lies – my absolute favourite WFRP site, and you should definitely be reading it in preference to my blog. Gideon is essentially a historian or archaeologist for WFRP’s history and he’s dug up some amazing stuff.
  • Refereeing and Reflection – one of the few blogs I’ve found that is still producing reviews of new WFRP material.
  • It Always Rains in Nuln – a long-running blog featuring reviews of 2nd and 4th edition adventures. Look in the sidebar for “My WFRP Fan Material Collection”, a link to an absolutely enormous repository of fan material.
  • Against the Wicked City – has some nice short reviews of WFRP 2nd edition and other RPGs inspired by WFRP. I really like this.
  • LetsYouAndHimFight – long-form writeups of LOTS of RPGs; if you do a “find on page” for WFRP or Warhammer you’ll find lots of reviews of WFRP 2nd edition by someone called “Night10194” which are excellent.
  • Night’s Ham Stock – and this is Night’s own blog, which includes WFRP 2nd edition reviews and playthroughs.
  • The Enemy Within: Remixed (Theo Axner’s blog about his Enemy Within campaign) features reviews of the 4th Edition versions of the adventures.

Forums

  • WarhammerFantasyRPG reddit – pretty active. (Look out for me there!)
  • The Rat Catchers’ Guild Discord – I don’t understand Discord (too old, I guess), but this seems a pretty significant place for discussing WFRP, with lots of fan material available.
  • Winds of Chaos – taking on the baton from the sadly deceased Strike To Stun forum, this contains content for all editions of WFRP.

Adventures and Rules content

  • Cubicle 7’s blog – the official source for 4th edition, this has some really nice articles, mixed with product announcements. (The link is to just WFRP stuff.)
  • The Ratter – the free fan-magazine for 4th edition; ten editions available at time of writing, each packed with adventures, careers, races etc
  • LAWhammer – the Patreon of Andy Law, producer of astonishingly good Warhammer maps and one of the key architects of 4th edition. He is livestreaming his own version of The Enemy Within campaign. Andy also has his own blog which I think he isn’t updating any more.
  • Graeme Davis – the blog of a living legend, one of the key original creators of WFRP 1st edition and contributor to every other edition since.
  • Liber Etcetera – blog of Ben Scerri, original assistant producer of WFRP 4th edition. Sadly no longer being updated, but there is some fantastic stuff here.
  • Madalfred – the blog of Alfred Nunez Jr (a WFRP writer since 1st edition), this contains a wealth of unofficial maps of the Warhammer world along with a host of fan adventures (for 1st edition WFRP) and more.
  • Kalevala Hammer – a wealth of information here including extensive rules additions for all editions of WFRP plus maps, news and more.
  • Unkansas – house rules for WFRP 4e, plus an Enemy Within campaign write-up.

Podcasts

  • Old World Podcast – an extensive fan podcast covering a LOT of 4th edition products. Frequently features Cubicle 7 staff. (At time of writing this hasn’t been updated for several months.)
  • Toa Tabletop – previously called ‘Mud & Blood’ this features some WFRP 4th edition reviews, an ongoing WFRP campaign and reviews of lots of other dark fantasy RPGs.

If you find any of these links are dead then please let me know with a comment below. Equally let me know if there is anything big I’ve missed.

It’s not the main focus of the blog, but I’ve posted reviews of the 4E The Enemy Within adventures and their Companion books (in process, up to The Horned Rat so far) on my blog that’s mainly devoted to documenting my own TEW campaign.

For podcasts, I’ve got to include “A Grim Podcast of Perilous Adventure” – an actual play through of The Enemy Within campaign (4e edition). Spoilers, obviously, but well worth a listen.

Great blog post! It’s always fantastic to see a compilation of WFRP sites in one place.

Speaking of resources, I’ve got a blog where I mainly share random generators that fellow WFRP enthusiasts might find usefull, mostly focused on random generators and my poorly english grammar.

I also have a list of wfrp resources, albeit a bit older, lacking some of the newest ones and with a dead link or two,

PS: need to add your site and *ehem* copy a few of this entry too
